Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Screen technology: Mini LED and QNED can offer better contrast and color depth than standard LED, but usually at higher cost. Decide if you want cinematic contrast (Mini LED) or a balanced all-around picture (QNED).
- AI processing and upscaling: AI-driven picture and sound tuning helps with mixed content. Consider processors like Alpha 8 Gen2 or A7 Gen5 for more natural adjustments.
- Smart features and voice control: If you rely on voice assistants, ensure built-in support for Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or HomeKit as needed.
- Room lighting: In very bright rooms, higher peak brightness matters. Mini LED models perform better here than entry-level LED TVs.
- Mounting and space: An 86-inch panel requires a sturdy mount and ample wall space. Wall mounting may reveal weight and stud spacing considerations.
- Latency and gaming: For gaming, check input lag and HDMI 2.1 support if you plan to use next-gen consoles.
